Flow Cytometry

Unparalleled in identifying the presence and populations of various cells in blood and bone marrow, flow cytometry is based on the principle of a stream of single cells passing before a set of lasers that discreetly detect, sort, and count them.

Antibodies (markers) attached to proteins expressed by the cells then allow hematopathologists to see population patterns associated with malignancy or disruption of cell cycles and regulation.
